Recently, I was blessed with the opportunity to interview Jan Marini, the president and CEO of Jan Marini Skin Research, Inc. In addition to her success as a businesswoman, Ms. Marini is also a leading educator, innovator and skin care product researcher, and her efforts have been showcased everywhere in the national arena from The New York Times to People magazine to Vogue. Thank you, Ms. Marini, for sharing your time with us!
What do you feel has been the key to your success?
I think the key to success for anyone, is that you must be passionate about what you do. I am absolutely passionate about skin care. Secondly, you must be willing to work, work hard and then work even harder. Perseverance and tenacity along with a dose of stubbornness are also helpful.
Who are your role models?
I don’t know that I have any one specific role model. However, I tend to admire individuals who are “self-made”, self-starters, who have overcome tremendous challenges and obstacles to become successful. One such person who comes to mind is Estee Lauder. As a poor single mom, with no financial backing, she created one of the greatest cosmetic empires in the world.
Do you or your staff like to consult with dermatologists?
What beauty and skin care products can’t you live without?
Regarding skin care, I can’t live without my Bioclear. This is a resurfacing product that contains glycolic, salicylic and azaleic acids. Resurfacing addresses fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged follicles, mild to moderate acne and rosacea, for example. It gives skin a bright, refined, glowing texture that makes facial skin look airbrushed.
My “I can’t live without” beauty product would be Marini Lash™. My lashes are long, dense and fabulous!
What are your greatest beauty secrets?
I don’t know that I have a beauty “secret.” However, I believe one of the greatest assets any woman can have is clear, healthy, radiantly looking skin. When your skin glows everything looks more vibrant and polished. No makeup can replace beautiful skin.
Do you read any beauty blogs?
I mostly read about 30 Medical Journals each month. But, now I also read your blog! (Editor’s note: I huge thank you! 🙂 )
