Americans Get Low Scores for Sun Protection Knowledge

Harrs Interactive, a market research firm, surveyed Americans, discovering that not enough realize they must wear sunscreen in all weather. They were also unaware of the dangers of skin cancer or the fact that sun damage is the main cause of skin aging. Make sure to wear sunscreen every single day and reapply often.

Woman Sues Estée Lauder Alleging Misleading Advertising

In a case titled Donna Tomasino v. The Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., et al., Tomasino is suing Estée Lauder claiming that the company’s products cannot deliver the claims in their advertising. She brought on the class action lawsuit after purchasing Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex and Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex.

Prepare for Metal Lids, Vibrant Lips, and Matte Skin for Fall/Winter

Beauty Press says the upcoming seasons are all about metallic eyes and vampy or bright lips with a matte foundation. Go beyond gold and silver and get creative with metallic colors in plum and turquoise. But stick to eyeshadow or eyeliner — the trend seems to be to do one or the other. You’ll also be seeing a lot of lips slicked in super pigmented hues, think vibrant red and deep wine. Finally, forget the dew and keep you face a matte canvas.

Want to Younger, More Elastic Skin? Study Says Try Collagen Supplements

A new study published in Skin Pharmacology and Physiology found that four weeks of taking collagen hydrolsate supplements — specifically Gelita’s Verisol — improved skin elasticity. Researchers say these collagen peptides could improve elasticity by up to 50%.

Proctor & Gamble 70% of the Way to Phthalate- and Triclosan-Free

P&G took a pledge to get rid of phthlates and triclosan from their full product line by 2014 and the company is already 70% of the way there. While the company’s spokesman, Dr. Scott Heid, explained that the pthalate DEP that P&G used and triclosan have been found safe in studies, the company is still distancing itself from these out-of-favor inclusions. Other companies like Johnson & Johnson have taken similar pledges.
