Style Evolution: You Could Be Next!

Share Article

I’m currently looking for real women who are interested in sharing photographs and anecdotes about the evolution of their personal style.  I’d like to know in each photo:

  • What were you thinking?  or
  • Why did you wear that?  or
  • Would you do this again today?

This is a new feature on FutureDerm.com, but I thought we could have some fun with it. For instance, take my own style evolution:
This is my mom and me at Disney World when I was about two years old.  I didn’t have much say in my style back then, but I will say that I would love to take that dress, albeit a little longer, in my size now…
One of my awkward stages, circa 2000.  Being adopted, I always loved my parents’ natural curly (Dad) or wavy (Mom) hair, and I was devoted to getting mine as big as possible.  Moving right along…
My prom dress, 2003.  I was formerly insecure about my curves, but after J.Lo made my figure type popular, I decided to wear clothing that accentuated rather than disguised them.  Which made my life a lot easier (and my confidence a lot higher) in general.
This is me at age 21.   Started running five times weekly at this age.  My style virtually solidified at this point:  mostly classic, with a touch of modern and romantic.  I learned by this point to also swear by clean lines and high heels for my 5’4″ stature.
This is me last year, before a medical school picnic.  I like to keep it simple:  clean lines, coordinating colors, beige or tan heels or wedges with a skirt.  Where I like to splurge is accessories:  a killer shoe, handbag, or piece of jewelry gets across the subtle-need-to-look-close-or-you-miss-it effect I crave every time.  I’ve gained about ten pounds since this photo, but I’m optimistic that I will lose it, especially now that I’m blogging about nutrition+fitness (nothing like public opinion to keep a woman on her toes!)
Now I want to know YOUR style evolution!  Please, send photos or inquiries to nicki[at]futurederm[dot]com, and you could be featured on the blog next!
